Billoid will save a lot of your time by processing invoices and credit notes on the basis of billing rules. These rules can be entered and edited at any time so that you can keep them updated upon changes from your tax authorities.

The Billing Rules help to automate different billing settings for different customer / supplier groups. Therefore, you are able to create different billing setups (Setting Groups) which will be loaded by Billing Rules that filter the customers per configured rule conditions.

1 - Start with creating a Setting Group

  1. Click on “Settings> Account”.
  2. Scroll down to the box “Setting Groups” and click “Add Setting Group

  1. Insert a name for the group you want to add (e.g. define VAT for all German customers→ “VAT German Customers”) and choose the setting that should differ from the standards for these clients. Example: “VAT percentage” from the drop down list. Now save your settings.

2 - Create a Billing Rule which will execute the Setting Group

  1. Then you will be in the settings list again. Scroll down to the box “Billing Rules” which is one box below the “Setting Groups” - box, that you just edited. Click the button “Add Billing Rule”.
  2. Now you are in a section called “Org Rule”. Insert a Rule Name and scroll down to the “Conditions” - box. Insert the conditions like for example “Country = Germany” and click the “Add” button. Below there is a box called “Actions” where you choose the Setting Group (here: VAT German Customers). Then click on “Save Rule”.

Once implemented, the billing rule will apply the respective setting group configuration on clients who match the billing rule automatically.

Examples of billing rules:

Clients from Germany –> Will receive 19% tax, billable in EUR
Clients from out of the EU –> Will receive 0% tax, billable in USD, different accepted payment method
